Lanterns for the Dragons and Lanterns Festival were illuminated during its launching ceremony and preview tour at Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris, France on Wednesday night.
This marks the first time that the lantern fair in Yuyuan Garden, one of China's national intangible cultural heritages, has been sent overseas to participate in significant festivals such as Christmas, New Year's Day and Spring Festival.
Around 60 large lantern sets and more than 2,000 lanterns, which were crafted in China and shipped to France, lit up simultaneously, with a colorful scroll of light and shadow presented to the audience.
The festival will be publicly accessible from December 15, 2023 to February 25, 2024 and produce a joyful festival with an oriental aesthetic for the people of France, celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and France in 2024.
