Beijing sweats in extreme heat for record third day

The official temperature, measured in Beijing's southern suburbs, hit 40 degrees Celsius at　1:51　p.m. on Saturday for a record third day as the city　sweltered in extreme heat. The temperature had　also　exceeded 40 degrees for the first consecutive two days on Thursday and Friday. 　

The city's administration of emergency response advised residents to reduce outdoor activities and suspend working outdoors during the peak-temperature period.
