The flight NZ289 that landed at Pudong airport on Sunday, became the first international flight to Shanghai after China further relaxed COVID-19 measures for inbound travelers.
Greeted by airport staff, passengers got off their planes and passed immigration checkpoints quickly.
Travelers were welcomed by long-missed family members or friends who came to pick them up with flowers in their hands. Some of them recorded the moments when family reunited at the airport.
"I haven't seen my son for three years since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. I'm emotional to see him," said Ye Beihong, a passenger from Taipei, "The flight I took seems to be the first flight to Shanghai. I have been postponing booking tickets until the restrictions were eased. We will celebrate the Spring Festival together."
For inbound passengers, it generally takes them couple of minutes to pass through each entry section.
China reopened borders and lifted quarantine requirements for inbound travelers on Sunday.
