Dazhai Village in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Jingzhu Village in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality have been named among the Best Tourism Villages of 2022 by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Jingzhu Village in Wulong District, Chongqing, retains the lifestyle and architectural features rooted in the unique geographical and cultural environment. Furthermore, it introduces modern creativity to recreate the public cultural space, and inject vitality into the ancient village.

Dazhai Village is located at the heart of the Longji terraced field scenic area, which was built in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), with a history of more than 650 years and has been listed as "Globally Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage". The local government has made full use of agricultural terraces, Hongyao dwellings and beautiful natural scenery to develop in terrace landscape tourism.

According to the report, villagers in Dazhaigou Village participate in the management of the scenic spot in the way of cooperation. Villagers are responsible for planting rice and maintaining the terraced landscape. The scenic spot distributes the ticket revenue to the village in a certain proportion every year.

The UNWTO launched the Best Tourism Villages initiative in 2021. It aims to promote the protection and sustainable development of rural cultural heritage through tourism. A total of 136 villages from 57 countries were registered for selection in 2022, and 32 villages, including Jingzhu Village in Chongqing, were recognized among the Best Tourism Villages of 2022.
