(ECNS) -- China's largest freshwater lake Poyang Lake in east China's Jiangxi Province has shrunk by about 70 percent recently due to drought caused by hot weather and low precipitation.
The water level of Xingzi Station, a major hydrologic station of Poyang Lake, was 8.50 meters, approaching the eight-meter extreme low water level by September 2nd.
A large area of wetlands and tidal flats were exposed, attracting many migratory birds to hunt for food.
