2 dead, 1 missing after fishing boat sinks in East China

(ECNS) -- Two people have died after a fishing vessel sank on Sunday in Weihai, East China's Shandong Province.

The fishing vessel sank in the sea waters 17 nautical miles east of Chengshantou Coast in Weihai. A total of 12 people were on board when the accident occurred.

The Beihai Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport sent a rescue helicopter and a rescue vessel to carry out the rescue operation.

Nine people have been saved so far, two lost signs of life, and one was still missing.

The rescue and search operation for the remaining one missing person is still underway.
