(ECNS) -- Hongcun Village, a Hui-style ancient village in Yixian County, looked like an ink painting after rain on Monday.
The village was established in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).
With a history of over 800 years, Hongcun Village preserves many ancient Hui-style buildings of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1644-1911).
It was inscribed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2000.
Hui-style architecture is one of the major Chinese architectural styles of ancient times, which prevailed mostly in the historical Huizhou of Anhui. It usually features grey tiles and white walls.
