(ECNS) -- China's easternmost Mudanjiang-Jiamusi High-speed Railway started operation Monday.
The railway has shortened the travel time between Mudanjiang and Jiamusi, two cities in Heilongjiang, to two hours and 10 minutes.
The 372-kilometer long route has seven stations and a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour.
The Mudanjiang-Jiamusi High-speed Railway is the most frost-resistant high-speed line in China.
All power and signaling gear are made with cold-resistant materials, with snow melting systems installed to ensure frigid zone safety.
Carriages have been upgraded in order to ensure tourists feel warm during the journey.
Drivers on this line have also been trained to handle steep slopes and tunnels distributed along this line.
The Mudanjiang-Jiamusi High-speed Railway has further ameliorated the rail transport network in northeast China, making trips in this region more convenient.
Meanwhile, it will help the transformation of cities along the route as well as the revitalization of northeast China.
