Rare slender loris rescued in SW China's Yunnan

(ECNS) -- A slender loris sneaked into a construction site in Ruili, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, for food and was reported to the local police station on Wednesday.

Policemen found no injuries on this animal and took it to the police station for observation and further care. They also named it Mengmeng in Chinese, which means cute.

Slender loris is the first-class protected animal in China.

It is small in size and slow in movement, so it is also known as slow loris. As the only toxic primate in the world, it feeds on small animals, fruits and gums.

The slender loris is under professional rescue of wildlife conservation department of Ruili and will be released back to the nature in due time.
