Wu Dawei, China's special representative on Korean Peninsula affairs, arrived in Seoul on Monday to discuss a response to Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs.

During his five-day visit, Wu will hold talks with his South Korean counterpart, Kim Hong-kyun.

He is also scheduled to meet major presidential candidates and their campaign officials to exchange views on key diplomatic issues concerning the two countries ahead of the May 9 election, reported Yonhap News Agency.

Wu's visit came days after the DPRK test-fired another ballistic missile into the sea off its eastern coast on April 5.

In a response to the test, China has once again called on all parties concerned to continue to support the resumption of negotiations on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying.
