China is resolute in sticking to its goal of taking a "low-carbon and green path", Lu Kang, the spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry, said during Wednesday's regular news briefing in response to US President Donald Trump undoing Barack Obama's Clean Power Plan.

Lu stressed that China "will continue to work with relevant parties to enhance dialogues to move forward the efforts to ensure that our economy can be put on a low-carbon and green path. It will also pass on green environment for our future generations".

Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday which will undo Obama's 2015 Clean Power Plan to limit greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fueled power plants.

"Whether other countries will still be committed to this goal or not, China, as a responsible developing country, is resolute in its goals and actions", Lu responded.

He mentioned that President Xi Jinping has delivered a speech at the UN headquarters earlier this year in which he said China will continue to take efforts to deal with climate change.

"Climate change is a challenge faced by all mankind. All parities, including the US and China, have made positive contributions. We still believe all parties should go with the tide, fulfill their pledges and responsibilities to implement the plan," he added.

Lu noted that Paris Agreement is a milestone in the global campaign in climate governance, which is a consensus of the international community, and it also ushered in a new stage of global endeavors in seeking green and low-carbon development.
