Gas explosion in Guizhou Province kills seven people

At least seven people are dead and 11 more are injured after a gas explosion at a coal mine in the Liu Panshui region of China's southwestern Guizhou Province. The blast took place at the Dahebian Coal Mine on Monday morning, which is run by a state-owned firm and has a yearly capacity of 900,000 tons.

Forty-one miners were working underground when the incident took place, 23 of them were evacuated safely. An investigation on the cause of the blast is ongoing.
