China's top Internet regulator has released a strategy document on heightening cyber security. The 15-page document was released by the Cyberspace Administration of China on Tuesday.

The cyber security strategy calls for increased scrutiny of technologies used in the industry, deemed critical to the national interest.

It says the government will safeguard cyberspace sovereignty and national security, protect key information infrastructure and crack down on cyber terror and crimes.

It also laid out the framework for a cybersecurity law released in November, which clarified a host of issues, including cyberspace sovereignty, the safety of Internet products and services, as well as the protection of personal information and data.

China has employed a handful of other measures alongside the law, including plans to launch a specialized college within the Chinese Academy of Sciences to train professionals on national cybersecurity projects.
