The leader of Taiwan's Kuomintang party, Hung Hsiu-chu, has arrived in Nanjing to begin a five-day visit to the Chinese Mainland. This is Hung's first visit to the Mainland since she became the head of the KMT in March.

Earlier on Monday, Hung paid respects at the Mausoleum of Sun Yat-sen, a place of pilgrimage for Chinese in east China's Nanjing. Sun Yat-sen and his mausoleum have great significance for the development of cross-Strait ties.

"I think the great sentiment of Mr. Sun yat-sen is highly praised by both sides. I believe we will be able to rejuvenate our nation and improve the livelihood of our people under his spirit. We surely can go hand in hand to create prosperity in the future," Hung said.
