China is making a big splash in Rio. Day Three of the Olympics brought several medals in water sports. And the personalities of the athletes are making the rounds on the internet.

A winning streak in water sports.

Gold medalist Sun Yang secured China's first swimming gold of the Rio Games on Monday, with a close win in the men's 200 meter freestyle finals. Finishing in 1 minute 44-point-six-five seconds, Sun was point-five-five seconds ahead of South Africa's Chad le Clos, and point-five-eight ahead of USA's Conor Dwyer further back.

Meanwhile, Fu Yuanhui tied for bronze in the women's 100 meter backstroke final. The 20-year-old finished in 58-point-seven-six seconds -- making this one of her best timings so far. In a previous interview with CCTV, she said she "unleashed prehistorical powers". Fu's exaggerated reaction and comment went viral on the Internet, making her China's latest internet sensation. Chinese netizens generated plenty of memes (MEEMS) to show their support.

Minutes later in the men's 100 meter backstroke final, 21-year-old Xu Jiayu finished 52-point-three-one seconds to obtain a silver medal for the team.

And it's another gold for diving as Lin Yue and Chen Aisen dominated the men's synchronised 10 meter platform final. Their last jump had a difficulty of 3.7, but the pair nailed it with precision, bagging a final score of 496.98.
