Downpours hit northern provinces of China

China's northern provinces are bracing for the heaviest rainfall to hit the region so far this year. Torrential storms are expected to sweep through Henan, Shandong, Shanxi and Hebei provinces over the next few days.

Shanxi's meteorological bureau has renewed its orange weather alert, after days of continuous downpours triggered floods in more than 40 cities and counties across the province.
