The body of the Chinese peacekeeper Shen Liangliang who was killed by an attack on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali, or MINUSMA camp, has now arrived in the capital Bamako.

MINUSMA will hold activities to commemorate the Chinese peacekeeper Tuesday, and a memorial service will take place on the same day.

The MINUSMA camp in Mali's northeastern town of Gao was attacked on Tuesday evening, with Shen being killed and six other Chinese peacekeeper injured.

Previous reports had cited only five were injured, but one more Chinese peacekeeper was later diagnosed with minor injures. MINUSMA is now the deadliest active peacekeeping expedition in the world.

According to the UN, 60 soldiers have been killed since the mission began in 2013. China started contributing peacekeepers to MINUSMA in 2013. About 400 Chinese peacekeepers are currently based in Gao, carrying out security, engineering and medical work.
