A severe sandstorm has swept across Kashgar Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The local meteorological authorities issued an orange alert, the second-highest level. The sandstorm lasted nearly 4 hours. Weather conditions have returned to normal.
