Macao's visitors arrivals up 17 pct in 1st 3 quarters

Visitors arrivals to Macao increased by 17.0 percent year-on-year to 30.20 million in the first three quarters of 2019, with same-day visitors (15.93 million) surging by 30.6 percent and overnight visitors (14.28 million) up by 4.9 percent, China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR)'s statistics department said on Thursday.

The latest report from Statistics and Census Service showed that the average length of stay of visitors reduced by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.2 days, with that of overnight visitors (2.2 days) and same-day visitors (0.2 day) remaining stable.

Visitors from the Chinese mainland increased by 17.7 percent year-on-year to 21.45 million. Visitors from China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (5.56 million) and China's Taiwan region (815,838) grew by 22.3 percent and 1.5 percent respectively in the first three quarters.

Visitors from South Korea (609,833) rose by 0.4 percent. Visitors from the United States (151,518), Australia (64,475), Canada (55,379) and Britain (44,201) also recorded year-on-year growth in the first three quarters.
