Xiamen, the coastal Chinese city that just hosted a BRICS summit, is expected to receive a large number of tourists during the long holiday next week, the city's tourism authorities said.

Starred hotels in Xiamen are about 70 percent booked for the holiday. Hotels that accommodated BRICS summit participants are already fully booked. Other hotels will be full from October 2 to 4, according to the Xiamen Tourism Development Commission.

The commission said room prices will rise up to 80 percent but remain reasonable.

Hostel beds in popular tourist areas like Zengcuo'an near Xiamen University have all been booked.

Xiamen is a traditional tourist city, but the ninth BRICS summit held in early September further increased the city's appeal to tourists.

Last year, about 1.5 million tourists visited Xiamen during the week-long National Day holiday.

Starting Sunday, Chinese people will have eight days off, the longest break of the year, as the National Day holiday coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival this year.
