China Southern Airlines will launch a direct flight between Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the Iranian capital Tehran, beginning July 30.
The flight will take off from Urumqi at 8:30 p.m. Beijing time every Sunday and land at Tehran at 10:00 p.m. local time.
The return flight leaves Tehran at 11:30 p.m. local time and lands at Urumqi at 7:25 a.m. Beijing time Monday. The flight time is five hours each way, the airline said.
China Southern already has flights from Beijing via Urumqi to Tehran, which run on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
It said the direct flight will further boost trade and exchanges between the two countries.
