China's Zhou Guanyu was confirmed on Monday as a reserve driver for Cadillac, ahead of the American-backed constructor's Formula 1 debut season.
Zhou joins a Cadillac lineup led by Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. Colton Herta, named as a test driver, will also continue to compete in Formula 2 during the campaign.
The 26-year-old previously raced alongside Bottas during his three seasons with Alfa Romeo and its successor team, Sauber, from 2022 to 2024.
Zhou made history in 2022 as China's first Formula One driver. He competed in 68 races, scoring points on three occasions during both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The Shanghai native also recorded Sauber's only points of the 2024 campaign at the Qatar Grand Prix.
After being dropped by Sauber at the end of 2024, Zhou served as a reserve driver for Ferrari in 2025, before departing at the end of the year.
The American-backed Cadillac team is set to enter Formula One for the first time in the 2026 season, using Ferrari power units and gearboxes.
