China's U16 team delivered a dominant performance in Chongqing during the second round of AFC Under-17 Asian Cup Qualifying. The PRC thrashed Timor-Leste 14-0 for their second straight victory in Group A as they aimed to secure a place at next spring's tournament in Saudi Arabia.
Only the seven group winners from the qualifiers would progress and join the nine AFC representatives from the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar, who had already qualified. China opened the scoring just six minutes into the game, with Zhang Bolin converting a rebound, building on their 4-0 opening win against Bahrain.
Zhang then headed home to Wan Xiang's corner to make it 3-0 in the 30th minute. Fourteen minutes later, Xie Jin's follow-up goal sent China into halftime with a commanding 6-0 lead, and he completed the first hat-trick of the match in the 65th minute.
Shuai Weihao and substitute Zhao Songyuan also scored hat-tricks, helping the hosts seal a 14-0 victory.
