Hubei Province, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, reported 409 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection and 26 new deaths on Wednesday, the provincial health commission said Thursday.
The latest report brought the number of total confirmed cases in the hard-hit province to 65,596 and that of total deaths to 2,641.
Wuhan, the provincial capital, reported 383 new confirmed cases and 19 new deaths on Wednesday. In total, the city has registered 47,824 confirmed cases and 2,104 deaths.
The province also saw 2,288 patients discharged from hospital after recovery on Wednesday, bringing the total number of discharged patients in the province to 23,200.
Among the 34,978 hospitalized patients, 6,581 were still in severe condition and another 1,403 in critical condition.
The commission also said Hubei had 2,019 suspected cases, after 448 suspected cases were ruled out while 403 new suspected cases were reported on Wednesday.
