A man in Northeast China was sentenced to three years in prison for placing dangerous substance in public places, after he killed six pet dogs in a residential compound with poisoned chicken liver, media reported on Monday.
In August 2017, a teddy dog owned by a man surnamed Zhou died soon after a stroll in the residential compound in Liaoning Province. Soon more pet dogs in that compound died of the same symptom. The owners suspected of someone placing poison and found some chicken liver in the public area.
In December 2017, a man surnamed Zou was detained as the suspect in the serial dog killing. Zou confessed that he did this to take revenge for his son who was bitten by a stray dog in that compound.
In August 2017, Zou bought the chicken livers and rat poison from the market and placed the poisoned livers in the public area. Autopsies found that all the six dogs were poisoned with fluoroacetic acid, which is usually used in rat poison.
