Photos of a firefighter giving up his gas mask to protect an infant rescued from a blaze in Jiangsu Province have gone viral after being released online.
A team of 20 firefighters rushed to the rescue of a family of five trapped in their apartment after a fire broke out in a residential building on Sunday in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu.
Witnesses said heavy fumes soon engulfed the building. A firefighter who spotted the eight-month-old infant gave up his gas mask to protect the baby from toxic fumes as he carried the baby out of the building.
His act was photographed by a witness and photos released online have generated admiration for the unidentified firefighter.
The baby’s parents and other family members were also rescued.
