Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson announced that at the invitation of Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Caspar Veldkamp will visit China from May 21 to 22, according to a statement released by Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday.
When asked to comment on current China-Netherlands relations and China's expectations for the visit, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday that China and the Netherlands are open and pragmatic comprehensive cooperation partners. In recent years, bilateral relations have maintained steady development, with frequent high-level exchanges. The two countries are important trade and investment partners, and cooperation in areas such as agriculture, water management, and science and technology has yielded solid progress and tangible results that benefit both peoples.
This visit marks Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp's first trip to China since taking office. China looks forward to using the visit as an opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions with the Dutch side on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concern, to expand consensus, deepen cooperation, and inject new momentum into the development of China-EU relations. It is also expected to contribute to upholding multilateralism, maintaining an international order based on international law, and promoting an open world economy, said Mao.
