Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Zhao Lijian on Monday urged the current U.S. administration to eliminate racial discrimination and protect the lawful rights of minorities.
The death of George Floyd reflects the severity of racial discrimination and police brutality in the U.S., said Zhao. Black people's lives should be protected and it's urgent for the U.S. to solve those issues.
Noting that leaders of African countries have strongly condemned the George Floyd death, Zhao said China is willing to stand with these countries to oppose acts of discrimination and hateful speech.
