Residents rallied on Saturday afternoon against violence and election fraud at Hong Kong's Wanchai Harbor Road Garden.
At around 2:00 p.m. local time, young and middle-aged people gathered carrying and waving the Chinese national flag and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) flag. They chanted slogans in support of Hong Kong police and law enforcement.
At the event, participants also voiced concern over fraud in Hong Kong's recent district election in November, which resulted in a major defeat to the pro-establishment parties.
Innes Tang, chairman of the event Organizer Politihk Social Strategic, said the election result has failed to reflect the real public opinion, and they will keep working on evidence and ask the government for a recount.
The event was the second major patriotic gathering in the Asian financial hub this month after hundreds of residents in Hong Kong gathered to sing Chinese songs and called for peace on December 1 in Tsim Sha Tsui.
