A messy hotel guest who had barred housekeepers from cleaning her room for months prompted staff to call police.

The fiasco came to a head in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on July 4 when staff became concerned that the long-term renter was becoming a health issue.

The 25-year-0ld woman, whose identity was not reported, had lived in the room for two months and had refused housekeeping services, staff said.

"I don't like other people touching my stuff," she said, thepaper.cn reported.

Police opened the door to find the room littered in plastic bottles and milk cartons, video showed.

Officer Zhou Xu noticed the mattress was infested with bedbugs.

"How could you sleep in that bed? The bugs don't bite you?" Zhou asked the lodger.

Only guilty of a messy room, officers released the woman.

It was not reported if the hotel planned to evict her.
