U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Thursday with nine of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.
Shares of BeiGene, Ltd. and Ctrip.com International slid 4.98 percent and 4.13 percent, respectively, leading the laggards in the top 10 stocks of the index.
Shares of TAL Education Group and Alibaba Group fell 3.93 percent and 3.84 percent, respectively, also among the worst performers.
Shares of Yum China Holdings closed unchanged.
U.S. stocks tumbled on Thursday as investors fretted over the rise in bond yields
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 200.91 points, or 0.75 percent, to 26,627.48. The S&P 500 fell 23.90 points, or 0.82 percent, to 2,901.61. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 145.57 points, or 1.81 percent, to 7,879.51.
The Cboe Volatility index, widely considered the best fear gauge in the stock market, increased 22.48 percent to 14.22 on Thursday.
As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,694.52, marking a 3.13-percent decrease for the month-to-date returns and a 12.83-percent loss for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
