The Secretary for Home Affairs of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will visit on Thursday Hong Kong youths doing business at entrepreneurship bases in Shenzhen to learn the city's opportunities for Hong Kong youth entrepreneurs.

Secretary for Home Affairs of the HKSAR government Lau Kong-wah is scheduled to visit two youth entrepreneurship bases in Shenzhen and exchange views with young people from Hong Kong who have started their businesses in these two bases to learn more about their working situation there.

Representatives from seven non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Hong Kong will join the visit and "gain insights into Shenzhen's vibrant atmosphere for innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the opportunities for young Hong Kong entrepreneurs," the HKSAR government said in a press release.

The seven NGOs are subsidized by the Entrepreneurship Matching Fund (EMF) under the HKSAR's Youth Development Fund (YDF), which assists Hong Kong young people in starting their own business, including setting up new business in cities of the Chinese mainland, by providing financial support in the form of matching funds for NGOs.

The EMF has approved subsidies to nine NGOs in the first round to implement their entrepreneurship projects. Among them, five have completed the selection of young entrepreneurs, three are vetting the applications and the remaining one has started recruiting young entrepreneurs.

Young people aged 18 to 35 can approach the subsidized NGOs to apply for their entrepreneurship projects. The NGOs are expected to provide mentorship programs with relevant guidance and support to young entrepreneurs.
