(ECNS) -- A scenic area in east China's Jiangsu issued a "reward notice" on Sunday for clues of a capybara who had escaped from the zoo for 40 days, stating that anyone providing valid information about the capybara would be rewarded with a free zoo ticket.

In the notice released by the Zhuyuwan Scenic Area in Yangzhou City, the capybara named Doubao, along with its family members, staged a collective breakout from the zoo in the early hours of April 3. However, Doubao's companions have since been brought back to the zoo.

"Investigations indicate that Doubao carries no dangerous weapons and poses no threat to the public, so please don't worry," it said jokingly.

According to a May 1 report by the Modern Express on WeChat, zookeepers have discovered Doubao's feces in a nearby village, suggesting the capybara is still active in the area.

Capybara, with short limbs, a round figure, and endearingly clumsy appearance, has gained increasing attention and popularity in recent years.
