(ECNS) -- An emergency translation system based on DeepSeek was first used to support the earthquake relief work in Myanmar.

The Chinese-Myanmar-English translation system was developed within just seven hours by a rapid-response team formed by the National Language Service Corps of China and Beijing Language and Culture University, according to the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar.

So far, more than 700 people in Myanmar have used the platform to assist communication during the emergency.

According to Han Lintao, head of the research team, the integration of DeepSeek models with existing terminology databases significantly outperforms traditional machine translation, fully meeting the needs of China's rescue teams.

The research team initially developed a platform supporting text translation. Then, it enhanced the system to incorporate voice translation capabilities based on the feedback from China's rescue teams.

"After this rescue mission concludes, I plan to open-source this tool so that more people can learn about and utilize such a platform," said Han.
