(ECNS) -- Chinese rescue teams have saved three survivors in Myanmar's Mandalay following an extensive search and rescue operation, China's Ministry of Emergency Management reported.
At approximately 12:40 a.m. local time on Monday, after over five hours of efforts, Chinese rescuers extracted a woman trapped under debris of the Great Wall Hotel. She had been buried for nearly 60 hours but was in stable condition. This marked the first successful recovery by the Chinese team since arriving in Mandalay, the most severely affected region.
Later, at 5:37 a.m., the Chinese rescue team, along with the China Ram Union Rescue Team, rescued a five-year-old girl at the Sky Apartment site. The child was found in good health.
By 6:20 a.m., the joint rescue effort at Sky Apartment led to the successful recovery of a pregnant woman. She became the third survivor rescued by Chinese teams in Mandalay.
The death toll continues to rise after a deadly 7.9 magnitude earthquake rattled most of Myanmar on Friday. As of Sunday night, more than 1,700 people were confirmed dead in Myanmar.
