(ECNS) -- Cyril, a young man from Tamil Nadu, India, has come to Jiaxing, east China's Zhejiang Province to visit Dr. Jin Songhua, who saved his life 18 years ago.

It took him and his father some effort to find the doctor. When they met with Dr. Jin, Cyril burst into tears, saying "You are my God!"

"Dr. Jin helped me out of despair when I was a child. I also want to be a doctor to help more people when I grow up, " he said.

According to Zhejiang Daily, Cyril's parents brought the five-year-old boy, who was suffering from oliguria and edema to Jin, a professor of pediatrics at the Second Hospital of Jiaxing City in 2005.

"Cyril had received treatments in India and Bangladesh before coming to China, but his situation didn't improve," Jin said.

Jin believed that Cyril might have refractory nephrotic syndrome. The family refused to go to Shanghai for more refined treatments, so Jin designed a unique plan for Cyril after thorough research.

"It wasn't taught in books, and it had not been tried by anyone before. Based on years of experience, I came up with this new plan, which uses less medicine and was safer compared to other treatments for kidney disease," said Jin.

With much care, Cyril recovered and attended a high school in Suzhou. Eighteen years later, he was admitted to the University of Sheffield Medical School in England.

Today, Cyril is an intern at a hospital in the UK.
