China's transport sector has adjusted epidemic control protocols to respond to optimized COVID-19 measures.

Cross-regional passengers traveling by road or water, such as buses, taxis or ferries, no longer need health codes or negative nucleic acid test results, according to a notice issued by the Ministry of Transport on Thursday.

Travelers are not required to undergo nucleic acid testing upon arrival either.

The notice stated that hindering the flow of people or products is forbidden, except in high-risk areas, to permit the smooth flow of people and goods.

Checkpoints are to be removed to ensure smooth transportation and logistics. Service areas on freeways, ports, railway stations, airports or mail and parcel distribution centers may not be shut down without authorization.

China released the 10 new measures on Wednesday.

They were introduced in response to the current status of the epidemic and mutation of the virus, to function in a more scientific and targeted manner, according to the circular issued by the State Council Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism against COVID-19.
