So-called decoupling by the United States is neither workable nor reasonable, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Tuesday. It will harm those who propose it like a boomerang, he said.

Wang made his remarks when meeting the press with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto after their meeting in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

When asked about the increasing sanctions on Chinese companies by the U.S. and its claim of decoupling with China, Wang said that political manipulation on decoupling is doomed to fail as it disregards one's own development needs and also harms public interests.

Forceful decoupling of existing cooperation between countries completely goes against the market economy principles and the willingness of companies, Wang said.

He noted that the establishment of diplomatic ties between the U.S. and China ties for more than 40 years shows that the two sides should make use of each other's advantages instead of decoupling with each other in order to maintain and promote people's well-being in both countries.

The two countries should integrate with each other instead of isolating from each other, should go for mutually beneficial cooperation instead of conflicts and confrontations, he added.

Wang also said that some suggestions and expectations raised by some countries on China's economy are problems occurring in the process of development. As China deepens reform and expands opening-up, the problems will definitely be solved appropriately, he said.
