A Hong Kong court has ruled that two ousted Legislative Council (LegCo) members have to pay back their salaries worth altogether 1.86 million Hong Kong dollars (about 240,000 U.S. dollars) and and to pay the legal fare as well.

Leung Chung-hang and Yau Wai-ching were disqualified in 2016 for insulting the country and advocating "Hong Kong independence" when taking their oaths at a swearing-in ceremony of the LegCo.

The LegCo Commission in 2017 resorted to the Hong Kong court to recover the salaries paid to them.

Leung and Yau were absent from hearings for two times and did not respond to the requests of the court to explain the case and their absence. The two raised a plea in 2018 respectively but have not informed court whether or not they will continue the plea since their absence from a hearing in June 2019. Enditem
