China's largest volcanic crater lake, Tianchi Lake in northeast China's Changbai Mountains, has started to thaw as temperatures continue to climb during the summer season.
Located at an altitude just shy of 2,200 meters, Tianchi Lake typically sees a seven-month frozen period lasting from November to June each year.
The increase in temperatures, stronger winds, as well as the high altitude and latitude have influenced the thawing process since May.
The Changbai Mountains area now enters its annual rainy season, a time which also sees plants on the mountains burst into life.
