Special: Beijing int'l horticultural exhibition 2019

Beijing authorities have prepared an overall traffic plan to better serve visitors to the International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing that opened to public on Monday and is expected to attract more than 16 million tourists.

Since the expo site is about 74 km from downtown Beijing and the Yanqing district also has many tourist attractions, especially the Badaling section of the Great Wall, the authorities have launched a comprehensive plan to meet the requirements.

The government has added public transportation means for tourists. Six bus lines directly linking the expo site via the expressway linking Beijing and Chongli district of Zhangjiakou, Hebei province, have been introduced.

The bus lines start at Zhuxinzhuang Station of line 8, Beianhe Station of line 16, Tiantongyuan North Station of line 5, Jin'anqiao Station of line 6, Xierqi Station of line 13 and Liuliqiao East Station of line 9.

Buses running between Zhuxinzhuang Station and the expo's P3 Parking Lot will commence journey once the vehicle is full at every less than 30-minute intervals. Other five lines will run every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays. The bus fare will be 16 yuan.

Buses are expected to be added along the 919 bus line from downtown Beijing to Yanqing. In Yanqing district, citizens can take bus lines Y44, Y20, Y4, Y9, Y10 and Y46 to the expo site.

Besides, during the event, 18 pairs of trains will run on the S2 rail line on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and holidays, and the trains will leave every hour. Non-stop trains will run from Huangtudian Station to Yanqing Station.

From Tuesday, visitors can take the S2 rail line to Yanqing Station where they can take free shuttle buses to the expo site directly.

Also, the S2 rail line allows visitors to scan a QR code to pay and pass to shorten the travel time.

At present, 11 temporary parking lots for the expo have been completed and ready to be operational, with more than 20,000 parking spaces provided.

To echo the concept of "Live Green, Live Better", bicycle parking areas have been specially set up at Yanqing Station of S2 rail line and the P4 and P5 parking lots of the expo.
