Leaders from the government and international organizations expressed their views on cultural communication during "Cultural Interactions and People-to-People Exchange" session at the ongoing China Development Forum on Saturday.

"The Palace Museum is the place of telling Chinese stories," said Shan Jixiang, director of the Palace Museum.

He added that the museum would auction the replica of the Sky lantern and the Wan Shou lantern for supporting the poor.

"The money raised from the auction will be used for the welfare of students in China's four impoverished counties," said the director.

"Cultural confidence is a more fundamental, broader, and deeper form of self-confidence," said President Xi Jinping at the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China on July 1, 2016.

Therefore, film director Malcolm Clarke tried to answer the question of "how can the power and effectiveness of 'people to people' relationships be most effectively expanded to have a truly global reach?"

The Oscar-winning director suggested that "China places much greater emphasis on Pop Culture" by indicating that "Pop Culture is the most powerful weapon in the battle to win the hearts and minds of millions of people around the world."

The three-day CDF provides an international platform for dialogue between China's senior leadership and representatives from leading businesses, international organizations, and scholars from China and abroad.
