The government will make further efforts to stabilize employment, finance, trade, foreign capital, investment and market expectations this year, according to a key Party meeting on Friday.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, presided over the meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
The Government Work Report, to be delivered by Premier Li Keqiang at the National People's Congress next month, was discussed at the meeting. The leaders also reviewed three documents covering such areas as anti-graft and poverty reduction.
The meeting highlighted the importance of boosting market confidence, supporting the sustainable and healthy development of the economy and maintaining social stability this year, which is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The government will uphold the principle of pursuing progress while ensuring stability, promoting high-quality growth, deepening market-oriented reform and advancing high-standard opening-up, according to a statement released after the meeting.
To achieve the economic and social development goals of the year, the government will implement a proactive fiscal policy and a prudent monetary policy, and make employment a high priority, the statement said.
The significance of improving the business environment, cultivating a huge domestic market, promoting rural vitalization and building an ecological civilization also were stressed at the meeting.
Bureaucracy and formalism must be targeted amid the Party's efforts to enhance political building, and different forms of oversight such as inspection, discipline and supervision should be integrated, the statement said.
Party organizations of all levels should focus on poverty reduction in impoverished regions, fight against corruption in poverty alleviation works and enhance Party building in poor regions to ensure that the poverty elimination goal will be achieved as planned.
