A teenage boy in Cambodia has wowed the Chinese internet with his ability to speak at least fifteen different languages.
Video of the gifted 14-year-old indentified as Salik, who sells souvenirs outside the Angkor Wat temple complex, has made the rounds online.
"I can speak Chinese, Cantonese, Thai, English…" Salik told Pear Video.
In a video uploaded to Facebook by Malaysian traveler Venus GWC, Salik tries to persuade her to purchase a souvenier in more than 10 different languages, switching through them without breaking a sweat.
"Buy one and I'll sing a song for you," Salik said in fluent Chinese, and then broke into a popular Chinese song.
It turns out that Salik is not the only language master in his family. He has an 11-year-old little brother, Tisha, who is proficient in eleven languages, according to Pear Video.
"We go to school in the morning and sell souvenirs in the afternoon," the boys said, "We learn the languages while talking with different tourists."
Sina Weibo users were astonished. "This boy said he wants to go to college in Beijing. He's totally qualified - he's so gifted in languages," wrote "nanfengling."
