The project is considered a musical city and a cultural monument for Lebanon with teaching rooms, a library, lecture and auditorium halls.

It will also house a music show room with the most advanced logistical and technology equipment, which can host up to 1,200 people.

Following his meeting with the Chinese Ambassador, Khoury praised the special relations and high level cooperation in culture and other areas between the two countries.

"We thank the Chinese government for its interest in funding this great cultural and artistic landmark," he said while expressing his admiration for the designs which he described as "special."

On January 9 this year, China and Lebanon signed a memorandum to build the conservatory named National Higher Institute of Music.

According to the statement issued by Khoury's office, the project will contribute to development and construction process in Lebanon.

Additionally, it will help to attract students from Lebanon as well as neighboring countries to university studies in music.

"It will also attract more internationally renowned musicians and artists to play their shows in this center, which will make Lebanon a cultural and artistic hub for communication under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative," the statement added.
