Chinese tennis player Zheng Saisai, together with former US Open champion Samantha Stosur and the rising American star Bernarda Pera will join a host of superstars at next week's Wuhan Open after accepting wildcards into the main draw, organizers announced on Tuesday.
Zheng, ranked No.3 in China, will join countrywomen Zhang Shuai and Wang Qiangto ensure a strong line-up of local players for fans to cheer. After being given a wild card, she was quite excited.
"Wuhan has been one of my favorite tournaments since its inauguration. It's absolutely different to play at home and to have local fans behind you," Zheng said.
"I know it has a staggering line-up this year, which means the competition will be tough from the start. It is my hope that more fans will come to not only support me and my compatriots, but also the other players."
