Chinese Air Force spokesman Shen Jinke has announced that more than 40 fighter jets have been sent to conduct high seas training in the western Pacific.

The jets flew in formation over the Miyako Strait to test their combat capability. Meanwhile, bombers and fighters have been sent to the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone, conducting routine patrols.

Shen says these normal procedures are needed to safeguard national sovereignty and safety, and maintain peaceful development.
