China and Myanmar have vowed to push forward military relations and cooperation in areas such as training and defense industry.

The pledge was made Tuesday night during a meeting between visiting Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan and Myanmar's defense minister Sein Win in Laos capital Vientiane.

Consolidating and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Myanmar serves the interests of both the Chinese and Myanmar peoples and contributes to the international and regional peace and stability, said Chang during the meeting.

He hoped to further deepen the personnel exchange and trainings and promote multilateral coordination between the two armies.

Win, on his part, thanked the support and help provided by China for its military training. The friendship between the two countries is highly valued by Myanmar and the army of Myanmar hopes to deepen military relations with the Chinese army, stated Win.

The two defense ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern, including the South China Sea dispute.
