The Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) held a news conference on the pilot cadet enrollment work on the site of the 10th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai of south China's Guangdong province on the morning of November 14, 2014 and introduced the information on its pilot cadet enrollment in 2015.

The PLAAF will mainly recruit two types of pilot cadets in 2015, namely those who will graduate from high school in 2015 and those who are seniors at the military colleges and academies and will graduate in 2015. The high-school-graduate applicants should be male and 19 years old or below (born after September 1, 1995) with formal household registrations in the areas from which the PLAAF will recruit pilot cadets.

A leader from the PLAAF Pilot Cadet Enrollment Bureau introduced that there will be some new changes in the pilot cadet recruitment work in 2015:

First, the management and information system for pre-selection will be used for the first time. In the PLAAF's pilot cadet recruitment work in 2015, applicants from provinces (regions and municipalities) including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Shaanxi, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Shandong and Henan can send their applications on the Internet to the website (http://www.kjzfw.org/SLogin.aspx) by using their mobile phone numbers or email addresses and can inquire their test results after the pilot cadet recruitment test.

Second, the test method for psychological selection is modified. In the past, the group measurement method was adopted for the test based on the psychological-selection basic cognitive platform. But now, the platform can test an individual applicant after its upgrading by the PLAAF Pilot Cadet Enrollment Bureau, effectively avoiding the mutual interference problem for the group measurement and allowing the test more convenient, correct and impartial.

Third, the simulated flight test item is added. The simulated flight test is incorporated into the pilot cadet enrollment according to the common practice of the air forces of major countries in the world, and applicants' flight potentials can be judged and forecasted through their performance in the simulated flight environments, so as to further improve psychological selection's scientific nature and correctness. This practice will be experimented at the pilot cadet enrollment center in Shenyang of northeast China's Liaoning province.

In addition, the PLAAF usually recruits a batch of female pilot cadets once every three to five years. As the 10th batch of female pilot cadets were recruited in 2013, the PLAAF has no plan to recruit female pilot cadets in 2015, according to Fang Chuanhong, deputy director of the PLAAF Pilot Cadet Enrollment Bureau.

It is learned that the procedure for the PLAAF to recruit pilot cadets is classified into three stages, namely pre-selection, second section and final section. The pre-selection is mainly for physical examinations on such items as ophthalmology, surgery, internal medicine and ear-nose-throat (ENT); the second selection, which will be carried out from February to the end of April in 2015, is to comprehensively test applicants' political, physical and psychological qualities; and the final selection is scheduled from April to the early July in 2015, during which the PLAAF Pilot Cadet Enrollment Bureau will recruit the best applicants among those who pass the second selection based on the pilot cadet recruitment standard according to the annual pilot cadet recruitment plan. The pre-selection work is now underway.
