Senior Chinese military official meets with US guests

Adm. Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and president of the China International Institute for strategic Society (CIISS), met with Adm. Dennis C. Blair, former commander of the United States Pacific Command, and his delegation in Beijing on October 31, 2014.

Upon invitation of the CIISS, Adm. Dennis C. Blair and his entourage arrived in China on Friday for visit.

Adm. Sun said that the China-US relations are one of the most important bilateral relations in the world nowadays, so it is of greater significance to strengthen the China-US cooperation amid the complicated and changing international situations.

Joint efforts should be made by the two sides to develop the sustainable and healthy China-US relations on the track of non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, Sun added.

With the promotion of the two heads of state in person and the joint efforts made by the two sides, China and the US have witnessed the important progress of relations between the two militaries over the past year and the two sides have reached consensus on building the new model of China-US military relations compatible with the new model of major country relationship between the two countries, he continued.

Sun expected the Chinese and American militaries to cherish the good momentum of development of the two militaries and conduct effective management and control over the risks, so as to jointly push forward the healthy and stable advance of the new model of China-US military relations.
